Inhaling a fluid or solid foreign body into the bronchi and lungs is termed "aspiration." This process occurs when substances such as food, liquid, or other materials are inhaled instead of being swallowed properly. Aspiration can lead to serious health issues, including respiratory infections, aspiration pneumonia, or airway obstruction, depending on the nature and size of the aspirated material.

The other terms do not apply in this context. "Deglutition" refers specifically to the act of swallowing, which involves the movement of food or liquid from the mouth to the stomach, not into the respiratory tract. "Vomiting" is the forceful expulsion of contents from the stomach through the mouth and does not involve inhalation into the lungs. "Regurgitation" describes the return of swallowed food from the stomach back into the esophagus and potentially out of the mouth, which also does not pertain to the act of inhaling substances into the lungs.
